Depending on what materials are run through a Sentry B1 point sampler, material can stick to the auger, sample tube and chute. Understanding how to disassemble and reassemble the sampler is critical to proper sampler maintenance and cleaning.

uNderstanding point sampler maintenance

The Sentry B1 automatic point sampler automates sampling of dry free-flowing or non-free-flowing materials, such as granules, powders, flakes and pellets from gravity lines, vertical chutes, sloping chutes and hoppers. One of the benefits of the B1 sampler is that it can be disassembled and reassembled without tools. To avoid sticking and cross-contamination, disassembly is recommended for cleaning the sampler to ensure sample integrity and operator safety. However, misalignment upon reassembly can cause equipment damage and sampling inaccuracy.

Maintenance professionals often need additional assistance on how to properly assemble and disassemble the B1 point sampler for proper maintenance. But IOMs and spec sheets can only provide so much information. A visual, hands-on training item allows customers to stop, start and replay as many times as needed to invest in maintaining and repairing their samplers correctly fully.
